About 100 House Democrats have written to the Ethics Committee, urging them to release their report on Trump's attorney general nominee, Matt Gaetz.

Dear Chairman Guest and Ranking Member Wilde,
We are writing today to request the immediate release of the Ethics Committee's report on allegations of serious misconduct by former Congressman Matt Gaetz.In light of President-elect Trump's nomination of Representative Gaetz as Attorney General, your committee's findings remain relevant despite Rep. Gaetz's recent resignation.
The President's Cabinet reflects their promise to appoint heads of government that reflect the country they intend to serve. Cabinet members advise the President on any matter they may request related to the duties of each member's respective office. To put it mildly, they are one of the most important positions in the country. The United States Senate is constitutionally required to provide advice and consent on presidential nominees, and it is critical that senators have all the information they need to consider Mr. Gaetz's nomination.
In April 2021, the Committee announced that it was aware of public allegations that Representative Matt Gaitz may have engaged in sexual harassment and/or illegal drug use, distributed inappropriate images or videos in the House of Representatives, misused government identification documents, altered the campaign . funds for personal use and/or accepted a bribe, improper gratuity, or impermissible gift in violation of House rules, laws, or other standards of conduct.
We strongly believe that this situation meets or exceeds those standards. This is not a partisan issue. In a statement to reporters on November 14, Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn, who is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said: An ethics committee was established.â€
Given the seriousness of the allegations against Representative Gaetz, withholding the results of your investigation could jeopardize the Senate's ability to provide fully informed, constitutionally required advice and consent on this nomination. Representative Gaetz's abrupt resignation from Congress should not circumvent the Senate's ability to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities to immediately release the Ethics Commission's report into allegations of serious misconduct by former Congressman Matt Goetz.
There is no reason for the Ethics Commission not to publish the report. Speaker Mike Johnson is trying to comply with Trump's request by pressuring the Ethics Commission not to release the report.
