The Ottawa Senators were without starting goaltender Linus Ullmark for Monday’s matinee against the Los Angeles Kings.

Head coach Travis Green said before the game that Ullmark was stiff and the team is being cautious with him. Ullmark was absent from practice Sunday with what Green described as a maintenance day.

The 31-year-old allowed four goals on 26 shots in Ottawa’s 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night and finished the game. He won in his first regular-season start with the Senators on Thursday, making 32 saves against the Florida Panthers.

Ullmark missed four days early in training camp with an undisclosed injury. Before the start of the season, the Senators locked up Ullmark to a four-year, $33 million contract.

Anton Forsberg led the team out as the starter against the Kings. The team recalled goaltender Mads Søgaard on an emergency basis, with Ullmark unable to play.

Søgaard looked strong in his first start in the AHL, allowing one goal on 28 shots in a shootout loss.

Forward Ridley Greig was also out of the lineup for Ottawa.
