Republicans come close to losing their majority as Ken Buck resigns
Written by informini

House Republicans were dealt another blow when Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) announced he would resign next Friday, further reducing their slim majority in the House.

Buck told CNN why he is being released early and not completing his term.

I think this place is dysfunctional. For example, I am number three in the judicial committee. I haven't even asked my questions yet. 40-50 people left before me.

A lot of it is personal, and that's the point. Instead of acting professionally, instead of making a quorum. This place has just devolved into this bickering and and nonsense and not really doing a job for the American people.

Video.

The consequence of Buck's early departure is that the Republican majority, which cannot govern, is on the verge of losing its majority. House Republicans can no longer govern, but now they need Democrats to help them get things done.

The Republicans are right on the brink of not having enough votes to maintain their majority. If a Republican falls ill or also resigns early, the GOP may not have a majority in the House of Representatives. If Speaker Johnson was smart, he would have put the Ukraine aid bill through and accepted the deal that Hakeem Jeffries suggested that if Johnson allowed aid to Ukraine, Democrats would help him keep his job.

The Republican House majority is evaporating right before our eyes.
