Meet The Press reporter Kristen Welker asked Sen. Bernie Sanders about Biden pardoning his son, and Sanders responded by taking Welker to school.
Transcript via Meet The Press.
KRISTEN WELKER:
Senator, was pardoning Hunter Biden the right decision for the country??
SEN. BERNIE SANDERS:
Well, I think two things. When his opponents go after his family, as a father, as a parent, I think we can all understand that Biden is trying to protect his son and his family. On the other hand, I think the precedent set is kind of dangerous. It is a very open pardon, which can cause problems in terms of future presidents under different circumstances.
KRISTEN WELKER:
Do you think he can have his legacy with this pardon, Senator?
SEN. BERNIE SANDERS.
Well, I think his legacy is a solid one. I think President Biden has been perhaps the most progressive president in US history since FDR. And I think the economy is in very strong shape today. But I believe as President Trump comes into office, we have to understand, Kristen, and this is something I feel very strongly about. And it's not being talked about enough. We're rapidly moving into an oligarchic form of society. Never in American history have so few billionaires, so few people, had so much wealth and so much power. Never before has there been so much concentration of Wall Street ownership, sector by sector, power. And never in American history, and we better talk about it , if the people at the top had that much political power, we can't go around the world saying, “Ah, you know, Putin has an oligarchy in Russia.” Well, we got our oligarchy here too. And in this last election, billionaires in both parties spent huge sums of money to elect their candidates. Now here in the state of Vermont, we believe we have one man, one vote. It's democracy, not billionaires, that buys the election. Those are the issues we need to focus on let's rebuild the middle class. 60 percent of our people live paycheck to paycheck. We're the only major country on Earth that doesn't guarantee health care for all. High rates of child poverty. So I look forward to working with President Trump. which will help the working class. We will vigorously oppose it if it wants to attack democracy or women's rights to control their bodies.

Senator Sanders (I-VT) has been on the money. Joe Biden may easily go down in history as the most progressive president since FDR. The Biden presidency will be scrutinized for decades to come. Trump's presidency will also be scrutinized for corruption and crime , perhaps for the damage done to American democracy.
Welker's question was beyond short-sighted. Trump has filled his cabinet with billionaires and is on the way to the largest oligarchic redistribution of power and wealth in the history of this country.
Pardoning Hunter Biden is irrelevant when billionaires just bought the presidency and are now poised to take over the executive branch of the federal government.
Billionaires running for office may be the most pressing threat to the nation right now, and Bernie Sanders did the right thing by taking Kristen Welker to school.
