Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), the current member of the House Judiciary Committee, is out of the race to retain his seat, so Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) will become the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee.
We present MP Nadler's letter to his colleagues.

Deputy Raskin wrote: “Jerry Nadler is an extraordinary lawyer, patriot and public servant. His steadfast defense of civil rights and civil liberties is a great inspiration to our people. I am honored and humbled to support him in the battles ahead.”
The ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee is expected to be at the forefront of the defense against Trump.. Raskin will not have anything to do with Trump's confirmation process, as his advisory and concurring role is limited to the Senate, but he will be the lead investigator for Trump's Justice Department and all agencies under the DOJ's jurisdiction.
Ruskin was the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, where he led committee chairman James Comer's investigation into President Biden.. Ruskin had Comer tied in knots and made the Kentucky Republican look sloppy.
It's a big boost for Rep. Ruskin, who is all representing the leadership of the push against Trump's rejuvenation, as Democrats on the judiciary will switch from the nearly 80-year-old Nadler to Ruskin, who is in his sixties.
Ruskin is also a constitutional expert and would be well-positioned to lead the House Democratic pushback against Trump.
Having Jamie Rusk the more prominent position is an encouraging step for Democrats as they organize against the incoming administration.
