In Dr. Oz's statement, Trump proposes to cut medical care

Trump's announcement that he had chosen Dr. Oz to lead Medicaid and Medicare was accompanied by a paragraph suggesting cuts to the programs.

After the election, there was speculation that Trump is set to try to pay for his tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations by slashing Medicaid and increasing the number of vulnerable uninsured people in the country with serious health problems.

Dr. Oz is a failed Senate candidate who is in every way unqualified to run Medicare and Medicaid. The press release announcing Oz's nomination mentions that he won a Daytime Emmy, as if winning awards on television qualifies him to host two of the country's most important health programs.

That would require an act of Congress to cut Medicare and Medicare funding, and there have been such cuts in Congress because of the overwhelming amount of public pressure that occurs anytime program cuts are being considered.

Trump is seeking to restart his increased redistribution of the nation's wealth, and he's counting on Medicare and Medicaid to pay for it.
