CDC employees repeatedly resign because they refuse to work for RFK Jr.

Trump's nomination of RFK Jr. to lead Health and Human Services has led to CDC employees resigning in droves.

EJ Dickson originally wrote in The Cut:
As Health and Human Services secretary, Kennedy could not only have the ultimate authority to undermine the role of regulatory agencies in keeping children and families safe, it could also lead to a brain drain within the institutions themselves, Rivera said, hearing from many government agency employees. such as the CDC, who are “already preparing their resignation letters.” “They refuse to work for this administration,” he says because we don't want to be in a position where everyone working in these agencies is anti-medical, anti-scientific.

Dixon updated in X's post.
UPDATE: CDC employees are submitting their resignation letters in droves after the announcement that RFK, Jr. will serve as HHS chief, a public health expert tells me. “They refuse to work for this administration,” he says.

HHS employees are non-partisan. The people who resign do not do so for political reasons. They are resigning because they refuse to work for an agency that will be run by a conspiracy theory that has probably killed people with its statements and doesn't believe in science.

It is questionable whether RFK Jr. can get the votes needed for Senate confirmation, and incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune has already said no to Trump's recess appointments. RFK Jr. may have a better chance of being confirmed than Matt Gates , but he would be a disaster for the nation's public health.
