Speaking at the Economic Club of Chicago, Trump said it would be a very smart thing for him to talk to Putin after he leaves the White House.

Asked if he had spoken to Putin since he left the presidency, Trump said:

Well, I don't comment on that, but let me say that if I do, it's a smart thing.

If I'm friendly with people, if I have relationships with people, that's good, not bad. As for the country, it has 2,000 nuclear weapons, and so do we. China has much less, but they will catch us within five years.

When they said it looked like he talked to Putin, Trump “I don't comment on that.

Trump's non-comment is as good as confirmation, because Trump comments on everything. If: Trump talking about US foreign policy or negotiating with Putin would be illegal According to Logan's Law.

Sabotaging the national security interests of the United States is not smart, no matter what Donald Trump wants to say.

If Trump hadn't talked to Putin, he might have said so, but the fact that he chose to discuss having potentially illegal conversations with Putin as smart should tell the American people all they need to know.
