Rep. Laurel Lee (R-FL) tried to blame Vice President Harris for the assassination attempt on Trump and wanted the Democratic nominee to stop saying what Trump would do if elected.
Lee said on Fox and Friends.
Rhetoric is every day, all day. And because it's directed against President Trumpit says he's a threat to democracy, that he's going to destroy America.
It's every day. It's absolutely absurd and irresponsible, and Democrats and people who talk about President Trump in these terms need to take responsibility and really think about the consequences of using that kind of language, because here we are again, and so right after Butler, we heard, people accept that it has to stop, but it didn't last, and that today is the day to take it seriously.

The game plan is for Harris to stop campaigning against Trump. What Lee argued is rhetoric that is dangerous is what Harris is telling America about what Trump has promised to do in his own words.
Republicans want Harris to stop saying real things about Donald Trump.
The Republicans who tried to shoot Trump didn't do it because of anything Kamala Harris did said or the idea that Donald Trump is a threat to democracy.
Trump is divisive and spreading hate, and those kinds of politicians attract extremists.
Lee's comments suggested that Republicans have no idea how to campaign against Kamala Harris, so they are trying to censor her because it may be Donald Trump's only chance to win the election.
