An investigation has been launched into Trump's alleged million bribe in Egypt

House Democrats have launched an investigation into allegations that Egypt paid $10 million in cash bribes to Donald Trump.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, ranking member of the Oversight and Accountability Committee, and Robert Garcia, member of the Subcommittee on National Security, Border, and Foreign Affairs, wrote to Donald Trump asking:

For the past 20 months, the committee has allegedly been “investigating attempts by foreign nationals to target and coerce family members of high-ranking US officials by providing money or other benefits in exchange for certain actions.” 24 The specific allegations raised by the Washington Post report, both of a $10 million cash bribe from the President of Egypt, and that your political appointees at the Attorney General's Office blocked an ongoing investigation into this possible bribery, now compel our committee. to find more information to clarify this question. As then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy stated in August 2023, at the start of the impeachment inquiry that fully and completely exonerated President Biden of any wrongdoing, “I think this president would like to clear (his) name pretty quickly.”

We are sure you would also like to refute these allegations of blatant corruption.

In that spirit, Mr. Trump, we ask that you cooperate with this committee's investigation by providing full and transparent responses to the inquiries below by September 17, 2024;

1. Have you directly or indirectly received money from the President of Egypt or?
government or was the ultimate beneficiary of any payment by the Egyptian
President or government?

2. Has there ever been any money from the Egyptian president or government?
used to directly or indirectly benefit you or your presidential campaign?

3. Has there ever been any money received from the Egyptian president or government?
used directly or indirectly to fund an investment in your campaign
refunds for any loans you made to your campaign or other payments
What did you do for or benefit your campaign?

In addition, please provide the following information together by September 17, 2024
with supporting documents, regarding the $10 million investment or loan made by you
2016 presidential campaign on or about October 28, 2016;

4. Source(s) of funds used to make investments or loans;

5. the date of investment or loan repayment or forgiveness;

6. Source(s) of any funds used for investment or loan repayment; and:

7. Names of individuals and/or entities involved in financing, arranging or transferring payments related to the original investment or loan and any repayment or forgiveness thereof.

The House Democratic investigation is based on a Washington Post report that the Egyptian government paid Trump $10 million in cash during the 2016 campaign when his campaign was in dire financial straits.

Egypt received several political concessions and foreign aid from the United States after Trump won the election and took office.

Trump's DOJ allegedly covered up a bribery investigation while the former president was in office.

House Democrats are not going to sit back and let Trump run for president without an investigation into these very serious bribery allegations.

As voters head to the polls in early voting states, they deserve to know if a convicted felon who is the Republican presidential nominee took bribes from a foreign government.

The investigation is over and underway, and what is revealed could spell more criminal trouble for Donald Trump if he loses the election.
