The Supreme Court rejected efforts by the state of Missouri to block Trump's felony conviction and overturn his wiretapping warrant.

CBS News reports.
The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the state of Missouri's request to stay former President Donald Trump's impending sentencing and to overturn a New York restraining order imposed in the “hush money” case until the November presidential election.

The Supreme Court denied Missouri's request to bring its case against New York and denied a separate motion to halt Trump's conviction in an unsigned order. There were no significant contradictions. Justices Clarence and Samuel Alito said they would grant the state's request to file an appeal, but would not grant the other relief Missouri sought.

Missouri's Republican attorney general claims that New York interfered in Missouri's election process by ordering Trump's sentencing.

Suddenly, Trump's September sentencing is a very big deal. Trump is now losing the election according to the national polling average and tied in battleground states.

Now that Trump's general election opponent is a former prosecutor and state attorney general, the verdict will have even greater political implications than before. Polls have shown the conviction won't sway Republicans or Democrats, but independents are less likely to vote for a convicted felon.

So much has happened in the last two weeks that Trump's criminal convictions may seem like years ago, but Trump will likely be convicted of fraud just as people are voting early.
