DOJ throws Merrick Garland's contempt in the dumpster

The Justice Department notified Speaker Mike Johnson that it will not prosecute Attorney General Merrick Garland for contempt of Congress because Garland did not commit a crime.

Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte wrote to Johnson. “Consistent with this longstanding position and consistent practice, the Department has determined that Attorney General Garland's responses to subpoenas issued by the Committees are not a crime, and therefore the Department will not. File a contempt of Congress citation before a grand jury or take some other action to prosecute the Attorney General.”

House Republicans learned nothing from the bogus impeachment of the mayor as they tried to impeach the attorney general for non-criminal activity because they wanted the tapes of the interview that special counsel Robert Hurr did with President Biden.

Biden asserted executive privilege over the tapes, meaning that even if Garland wanted to release them, he could not.

The Justice Department has already complied with a subpoena from House Republicans, handing over the full transcripts of the Biden/Hour interview.

The Ministry of Health expressed concern about the request for the recording for political reasons. They worry that if released, the recordings could be used for deep-pocketed fraud and other purposes that could compromise national security.

The Ministry of Justice took into account the political motives of the Republicans of the House of Representatives and made it clear that A.G. Garland did not commit a crime and therefore will not be prosecuted.
