House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries called Supreme Court Justice Alito an accomplice to the rebellion and called on Congress to impose ethics rules on the Supreme Court.

Leader Jeffries said in a statement. “Samuel Alito must immediately apologize for disrespecting the American flag and sympathizing with violent right-wing insurgents. He should recuse himself from cases related to the 2020 election and former President Donald Trump. Congress should immediately consider legislation that would impose ethical conduct rules on the runaway Supreme Court. The Constitution demands, and the American people deserve more, a justice serving on the highest court of the land than an unwarranted denial of an election.”

Leader Jeffries was right on all counts. Congress must act to rein in a rogue and corrupt Supreme Court, and equally troubling for the country is the fact that an unrepentant rebel sympathizer sits on the bench.

Alito was the justice who wrote the majority decision that struck down reproductive rights, and now he's coming after American democracy.

Supreme Court reform has never seemed more urgent and vital.

The likelihood of a Republican-controlled House doing anything about this crisis is nil, but once Democrats take back the House, fixing the Supreme Court's broken and failed majority should be a priority.
