Davis said when asked by MSNBC's Jen Psak about Trump's prison sentence that if he were convicted, he would certainly go to prison for it because he could not be pardoned. Let me repeat this. He's going to, if he's elected president, I hope it doesn't happen. He says he'll pardon himself, he'll probably try, but he can't be pardoned by a state felony jury. He should go to jail. I was not in favor of putting him behind bars. I'd prefer house arrest, something less than behind bars, since he's a former president. But there is no doubt that he will be detained either under house arrest or behind bars. If he is convicted.”

For years, people have been saying that Trump should go to jail or be behind bars. Starting tomorrow, Trump's arrest may be on the way to reality.
Lani Davis was probably right. Given Trump's circumstances — a “nearly 80-year-old former president with no prior criminal convictions,” it's likely he would be sentenced to house arrest if convicted.
How any Trump incarceration might affect the 2024 presidential campaign would be very interesting. If Trump is under house arrest, will he campaign via Zoom calls? That Trump is physically unable to campaign will be devastating for the Republican Party.
Republicans will get what they asked for when they nominated a candidate with 91 felonies as their presidential candidate.
The Manhattan trial will be the closest Donald Trump has yet come to a conviction and prison sentence.
