Igor Severino bit off more than he could chew on Saturday.

Not only was the Brazilian flyweight disqualified from his match, he was also cut from the UFC after biting opponent André Lima in their bout at UFC Fight Night.

According to UFC reporter Kevin Iole, UFC president Dana White messaged him following the incident to elaborate on the consequences of the decisive bite.

“The worst thing you can do is bite your opponent,” White said in the message to Iole. “Now, you get cut and lose the biggest opportunity of your life.”

Referee Chris Tognoni brought in the ringside doctor at 2:52 of the second round to examine Lima before calling off the fight, disqualifying Severino in a shock ending.

The bite mark was clear as day on Lima’s arm, but the fighter made it clear that he wasn’t in pain from the incident.

Following the fight, White apparently told Lima that he would receive the UFC’s first “I Got [expletive] Bit Bonus,” according to his manager Lucas Lutkus.

Severino, meanwhile, seems in a much worse place. Formerly 8-0 in his professional MMA career, he now moves to 8-1 and his future could be up in the air following the cut from UFC.

Iole added that Severino may have problems with the Nevada Athletic Commission (NSAC) and could face a suspension. Executive Director Jeff Mullen chose not to comment on the repercussions for Severino, according to Iole.
